For the past 4 years we have been leading groups looking for a wild time-out. From families with kids of all ages (we have had babies out with us…spectating while Mum goes for a dip), alternative stag and hen experiences, youth groups and tourists, coasteering offers the wild pull to just throw yourself in the sea….and do it safely!
Ireland is becoming the premium location to try the sport out, with the wild Atlantic coast providing amazing locations to get close to the elements. With cliffs, small to very large in abundance, plentiful sea-life, coves, caves, beaches and wild nooks under our noses, coasteering in the wild Atlantic is a truly immersive experience.
Coasteering involves coastal scrambling, wild swimming, exploring aquatic life and (optional) jumping into the sea from a height! Led by experienced and qualified guides, Far and Wild has a variety of great routes on the North and West coast to suit all ages and abilities.
It is worth having the right gear on- a 5 or 4mm wetsuit is recommended, a tough buoyancy aid, solid helmet and trainers with a good grip. Having the gear allows you to stay in the water longer, offering protection from the elements and against any minor knocks or scrapes.
It is not uncommon to get close to bird-life, an inquisitive seal and all 150 varieties of edible Irish seaweed. So time to dust off the swimmers and think about your next first splash in 2016!
