Intro to SUP
Learn with confidence on our introductory SUP Lessons
We are starting monthly Intro to SUP lessons by popular demand!
Since introducing Stand Up Paddle Boarding on our local programmes in 2016 we have seen the popularity of the sport go through the roof. Some of our most popular tours for visitors to Derry-Donegal are now our Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) tours, which we have expanded to include Dragon SUP, SUP Yoga and self-hire SUP under the overall title of SUP in the City.
We have seen some great enthusiasm from local people, young and more experienced alike, for learning the craft, and to be honest, it is such a fun sport to teach and to learn. With this in mind we have decided to run a monthly ‘Intro to SUP’ lesson once a month to help people who have never been on a board get their first experience.
The session will be run by one of our seasoned volunteers backed up by a qualified water-sports instructor. You will have the benefit of feeling really well looked after as well as getting tips from someone who has been through the learning process themselves in the past 2 years.
These lessons will run on a pay-per-place basis, unlike most of our bespoke tours, and will need to have a minimum of 4 people booked on for a session to go ahead. So tell your friends or bring your family. Each session will last 1 hour and will be packed full of handy tips we guarantee will get you standing up and paddling with confidence by the end of the lesson. An additional discount will apply ion booking if you bring your own wetsuit.
If you are thinking of availing of our self-hire service during the summer and are completely new to SUP, we recommend you complete an ‘Intro to SUP’ lesson with us first. That way you can feel secure in the knowledge you have skills to apply when you need them.
Buoyancy aid and all SUP equipment supplied- please remember to choose the relevant package with or without (if you have your own) wetsuit when booking!
Meet Our Instructors
I have been making the outdoors both my work and passion for over 10 years now- and every activity brings new people, new places, and new discoveries. What keeps me smiling is discovering the depth of Ireland’s natural heritage- and how people take to it so positively. I have been working with community leaders in Aotearoa/New Zealand for years to understand our own indigenous identity.
Robin is a director of the company and experienced outdoor leader. Specialising in environmental education, Robin is a proud home-schooler and spends a lot of time exploring the outdoors on a daily basis with his young family. He loves climbing and canoeing, always including some foraged food en route!
Born in the city, Darren spent 12 years working in Scotland leading water and land based expeditions. Living in Inishowen since 2018, he is happiest when rock-climbing and kayaking around our beautiful coast-line
