Far and Wild’s ‘Pale Mountains’ Tour visits the Dolomites from 29 July- 5 August 2019, offering 6 days of varied hiking through the centre of the Dolomites. A hiker’s paradise in summer-time, the trails in the Dolomites range mostly between 1,500 and 2,500 metres.
The tour starts with pick up at Venice Marco Polo airport and transport to the Tre Cime National Park. The tour will spend three days walking in the Tre Cime area and a consecutive 3 days in the Marmolada Massif- the highest peak and only surviving glacier in the Dolomites.
Trails in the Dolomites are well defined and way-marked. They provide a very broad range of experience for those seeking to develop their European walking experience. High routes are well serviced by Refugio or Mountain Refuges which in the Dolomites are of a four star standard; while access to the high trails can be assisted by a cable car uplift.
Valley walking, beginning at an upland lake, as in Day 1 of the Tour in Misurina in the Tre Cime Park, can bring the hiker from fecund pastures up through the various levels of foliage and landscape onto the higher rocky plateau of the Dolomites and back again all in a spectacular day’s experience.
The sheer scale of the Dolomites is impressive as anyone who has previously visited will attest to- views are simply spectacular. Far and Wild will provide a guided tour experience throughout, hooking up with local people on the way to provide inputs on regional culture and heritage.
Bag transfers will be included in the tour, which is priced per person sharing double or twin accommodation (single supplement on request) and based on hikers purchasing their own flights to/from Venice Marco Polo airport. It is recommended tour participants should purchase flights as soon as a deposit is paid for the tour to get the best possible price.
Tour cost £750 on the ground. Early bird offer £700 if a deposit of £150 is paid by Xmas.
