Sweet Summer Outdoors

Sweet Summer Outdoors

This past 2 to 3 weeks have seen the outdoor activity season in Ireland begin. The summer weather has been sweet!.. and brought our countryside to life. With everything in full bloom, we are approaching mid-summer with pre-made tan-lines!

It’s not hard to get out, and into the good weather. Recently, we have had one of the best Moonlight Paddles in a long time (main pic). The Roe estuary never fails to deliver a glorious sunset looking west to Inishowen in Donegal. As the sun sets, the twilight is prolonged over the hazy water and feeding waders.

Looking forward, Foyle Maritime Festival is building to be an amazing and climatic event of the summer. With a mix of water and land-based activities to suit everyone we will be there in spades! Far and Wild is delivering two unique tours. Both greatly discounted with the helpful support of the Loughs Agency to help more people to use the River Foyle for recreation.

Our Foods of Mananan Kayak Tour (£10pp- price includes lunch) is a fresh sample of finest local organic produce in the shape of lite lunch or a snack, coupled with a guided paddle down Lough Foyle. Starting at Culmore, we enter the huge amphitheatre that is the Lough itself, and end two hours later in the picturesque Redcastle.

In the heart of the city, our SUP Yoga sessions (£2pp) will take place at Foyle marina. We will teach you the basics of Stand Up Paddle Boarding and yoga in a 40 minute fun and laughter session.

Book on these tours early to avoid disappointment, and enjoy your Maritime Festival!

From our base in St Columb’s Park House we have built up a great centre for activities in the heart of the city. We can offer a wide range of short (1-2 hrs) to longer (3-4hrs) activities just a 10 minute walk from the city. These include climbing tower, long boarding, archery, slack-lining, forest school, in-line skating, ultimate frisbee, orienteering, mountain-biking. The list goes on and can be tailored to your own needs.

As the school holidays approach, the summer is looking up. It would be great to see you in the Park or at some of the Clipper events. Enjoy your Summer!
