Escape the crowds on the Giants Causeway. Go Sea Kayaking along the coast instead! Escorted by our qualified instructors in a stable double sea kayak, the landscape of the Causeway Coast truly comes to life. The sea is the natural vantage point to witness this legendary coastline.
One of the more challenging coasts to navigate by sea, the Causeway Coast kayak tour is ideal for those interested in the geological and natural heritage of this amazing piece of coastline. If you book this tour, please consider if you are booking the right experience for your interest and kayaking ability. We offer other great tours for people wanting to celebrate a birthday or stag & hen experience- check out our Coasteering and Dragon SUP tours for example.
Ireland is ideal for sea kayaking. As an activity it is on the up and offers the opportunity to get close to travel to places inaccessible by any other form of transport. We offer four different routes on the Giants Causeway coast for different abilities and to accommodate the weather and sea forecast. Your Giant’s Causeway coast kayak tour will be tailored to you.
The route that passes the Causeway itself is an exciting paddle that requires competent kayaking skills. We use many other routes suiting beginner to intermediate kayaking skills such as via Dunluce Castle and the magical cliffs at Whiterocks and from Ballintoy to Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge. Giant’s Causeway coastline is undoubtedly one of the most popular tourism locations in Ireland, so it can get busy on the walking traditional route. Spending a half a day exploring the area surrounding the Causeway is a fulfilling and fascinating experience. Sea caves, smugglers coves and geology abounds in the short stretch of coastline to either side of the Causeway itself.

I had the best time sea kayak paddling w/ my guide, Lawrence. We went out of a beautiful small harbor. When I arrived it seemed a little rough. He had options for me, but we decided to go out there. He was able to provide a challenging and safe experience for me. I would have never gone out alone in it – but with his experience and knowledge of the area we had a fabulous time! This is a weather pending and skill level activity. Most likely he would be able to accomodate any skill level (I would say I am intermediate, but beginner in the ocean). I would suggest that you be clear on who is signing up, ages, and skill level so he can plan accordingly. I am sure he can accomodate just about all!

What a great trip! Having spent every long school summer up north with parents and grandparents I know the Causeway coast quite well. But our kayaking trip from Dunseverick towards the Giants Causeway gave me a totally new and fantastic view of it. Lawrence’s geological and cultural knowledge also greatly enhanced our experience of the coastline.
Lawrence made us both feel safe and secure kayaking in the sea, giving us a great balance of instructions and ocean awareness as well as letting us paddle and experience a sense of freedom (although we knew he always kept his eye on us to make sure we were safe! 🙂 ).
I highly recommend this trip to anyone.

Great trip with our guide Shayne.
He was very safety conscience and knowledgeable about the area.
Weather was blue sky and we managed to see inside a coastal bothy.
As the wind picked up we had to curtail the kayak but instead Shayne took is for a walk through the cliff, which was very picturesque.
Well worth a trip off the tourist track. Highly recommend

We had planned our Giants Causeway kayak before leaving Canada and were very much looking forward to it and it did not disappoint. All in all it was a great outing and certainly a highlight of our trip.

Awesome kayak along part of the Causeway Coast Northern Ireland. So great to see the Causeway Coast from a different perspective away from the hustle and bustle of tourist crowds. Thanks Lorcan for a totally enjoyable day!

Far and Wild just completed two full days of touring around Giant’s Causeway and Inishowen, tailored both for our group’s interests and the rapidly changing weather. Very accommodating, fun and enriching…Shayne was a great leader and F&W arranged two exceptional experts in Liam and Desi to help us fully appreciate all we were seeing.
