The Wild Atlantic Salmon Kayak Tour is an immersive sea tour in conjunction with our Wild Atlantic Kayak Guide- a definitive kayak guide to four great kayak tours in the 100km catchment.
Choose a tour that suits your ability and interest to explore some of the most hidden and beautiful parts of this great river system. Take a ‘slow’ adventure on our stable and relaxing boats and lunch-out on local produce in our succulent river-side hamper (optional extra)!
The Foyle is intimately linked to the story of the ancient salmon, which is a Irish myth about gaining insight and knowledge from nature. In ancient times Ireland was a riverine culture- transport, communication, civilisation and conquest all took place via water-based craft along the coastline and inland waterways of the entire island.
The North West was no exception and the Foyle provided the passageway for civilisation, christian-isation and conquest – to navigate the region. Underneath our recent history remains the ancient myths and beliefs which didn’t go away and remain hidden in the names given to our landscape.
So try an adventure on one of the biggest river systems in the country- learn how to paddle in your family or with your friends- discover the sense of fun and thrill of exploring new places, or visiting places you know and seeing them with new eyes.
Led by qualified and experienced guides, our Wild Atlantic Salmon kayak tours take place in various locations in Tyrone, Derry and Donegal along the river system, visiting historical gems and hidden corners of the countryside.
We have accessible craft available for people with accessibility needs- please inquire on booking.
Discover the living traditions of the river and its communities on a Wild Atlantic Salmon kayak tour and feel transformed!

Super 4 hours on the river roe with Steve. 6 of us including 2 kids had a great day enjoying our first experience of Kayaking. Great views – a few breaks to take in the scenery, have a snack to keep the energy levels high and to go for a dip to rest the arms along the way just added to the whole experience. highly recommend.

As part of the Foyle Maritime Festival 2018, my partner and I kayaked with Far & Wild from Culmore Point to Quigley’s Point, down Lough Foyle.
There were twelve of us in six kayaks, with three very attentive and knowledgeable staff (in individual kayaks) supporting us the whole way.
Elements of local history and the local environment were explained as we travelled.
The picnic of local produce was well received after we came ashore. A variety of locally made cheeses, oils and mackerel were devoured alongside the classic – potato bread.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys being on the water and exploring the local environment

This was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon! The scenery around Inch Island, the birds and wildlife was spectacular and the trip was really enjoyable. We stopped off for lunch on a small beach, explored the castle and kayaked back to our starting point, all lasting approx 4 hours. Would definitely recommend this trip – Lawrence was a great guide and made the trip interesting and fun. Looking forward to our next outing with Far and Wild already!

My partner and i booked in for the Wild Atlantic Way Salmon Tour, neither of us had been kayaking before so were unsure of what to expect. we arrived on Saturday to meet our guide Shayne who had all our gear ready for us to get started. we were given a health and safety brief and reassured that everything would go well, the water looked quite choppy! we spent around 3+ hours on the water, the views were fantastic and Shayne was very knowledgeable on the area and the history. would highly recommend.
